Accommodation in Avoca

Avoca is a delightful place to visit and a great base for exploring the many beauties of County Wicklow. The present day village of Avoca, where some of the shop names have been permanently changed in honour of their fictional owners in Ballykissangel, spreads above the banks of the Avoca River. The village is about midway along the famous Vale of Avoca, which extends from Arklow to the Meeting of the Waters. It is actually one of two meetings in the Vale. The famous one is where the Avonmore meets the Avonbeg - their names translate from the Irish as ‘Big River’ and ‘Small river’. The second Meeting is beside the very pretty hamlet of Woodenbridge, where the Aughrim River meets the Avoca River.
