The name Castlebellingham is derived from the fact that the manor house in the village was once the home of the Bellingham family. The house is situated on the site of the former Bellingham castle and dates from the nineteenth century. A walk from the village square to the coast of Annagassan is an extremely pleasant experience. Situated immediately due south of Castlebellingham is the village of Kilsaran.
