Portmarnock lies on the coast and, owing to its proximity to Dublin city, is a form of dormitory town 15 km northeast of the city centre. Today Portmarnock's village is a single main street, with shops, one of the two Roman Catholic churches and other facilities. Tourist attractions include Portmarnock beach, Golf Course, several fine restaurants and traditional Irish pubs.
